Buy or Borrow:
Where do your books that you read come from? The bookstore? The library? Do you prefer to own a book, or have it on loan?

As a person who is getting their Masters in Library Science I am pro-libraries. I love the library. But for as much as I love the library I do have an addiction to Amazon and the local used bookstore down the street from me. I use the library often to read a book once and then if I fall in love with it I buy them.

I do however often buy, buy, buy from Amazon or the used bookstore. I have an embarrassing amount of bookshelves that are overflowing and yet I still go to the library and check out books all the time.

It’s a vicious, almost addicting, circle I live in.

Giving Thanks
Which books are you most thankful for receiving from other bloggers, friends, family members, or publishers?

I’m thankful for numerous books being brought into my life if you can’t believe it. I’m thankful for every book my BFFLauren forced me to read. Including Anna and the French Kiss. No really, this book is near perfect. It’s cute, it’s fluffy, it’s what I almost want all books to be like. Yes, I’m not a big angst fan. This should shock no one reading this right now. Lauren and I almost always agree on books and I was in a rough spot in my life when she picked this book for when I used to have an online book club (pre-this) and this book was perfect for that time in my life. Plus, Stephanie Perkins is pretty awesome and adorable. You can check here out here. You should also check out Lola while you can.

Next, I’m thankful for Lauren sending that email asking if I wanted to be part of a blog  with her and this friend of hers, Tina. Tina brought a whole other set of books into my life (even if she is from my rival state. It’s okay we still love each other, and have the crazy emails to prove it.) You see Tina and I couldn’t be more opposite. Tina reads science fiction, I read romance. She likes angst and I like fluff! Yet, slowly, thanks to her awesome reviews I’ve picked up authors such as Kendare Blake, and I’m not sure I can say without Tina I would have picked up this book. Yes, it’s YA, but it not a very ASHLEY! book, yet it is. I’m in love with it. I couldn’t put it down. I hope to review it soon. And I would like the next in the series now.

I’m also thankful for my BFFSarah (yes, I have more than one, yes I nickname them.) Sarah and I swap books all the time. It was easier when we lived together, but we still do it. Last year she told me to read The Gathering by Karen Armstrong, and I couldn’t be more thankful. I love that book. The only problem with it, is that it’s a series. And I want more, and I want more now. Of course I have to wait to see what happens. Patience you say? I have none. But the best part about this is I was able to recommend to others, and I actually fear recommendations. But I recommended it and they liked it! YAY!

Lastly I’m thankful for my parents, because at a young age they didn’t find it weird that I wanted to read all the time and encouraged it.

I also see that I didn’t this backwards and did people and then books. But oops? Also, Lauren and Tina are anti-mush so it will be interesting to actually have this post. But the bigger thing on my mind is what book/friend who recommended a book are you thankful for this holiday season?

To-Be-Read’s:
How big is your pile? Which book keeps getting pushed down the stack, but you keep meaning to read it?

The Opal Deception (Artemis Fowl #4) by Eoin Colfer

I like Artemis Fowl as much as the next girl, but after the last one, I’m mad that they erased Artemis’s memories.  I’ve read the first 10 percent of the book and can’t keep going.  It’s still on my list, but it’s down at the very, very bottom.  It’s a 2011 priority, but I’ve got galleys to read, you know?

As for what my TBR list looks like, my GR shelf says I have fifty-eight books to read.  On that list are books that come out later this year (Beautiful Chaos, for one) and ones that come out next year (Insurgent, Outpost, Bitterblue, Girl of Nightmares, Dead to You, Crown of Embers, Endlessly, etc), too.  I’ll get through it eventually, but probably not by the end of the year.

Book Disappointments
Have you ever come across a book you were so stoked to read, but it failed miserably in your eyes?

Matched by Ally Condie

There is very little that I liked about this book aside from the writing. The plot wasn’t terribly unique and I had an extremely difficult time relating to any of the characters. For all of the hype, I was very disappointed with this novel. It’s one of the few novels that I’ve truly disliked in recent memory.
